Silk Taffta Draping Top
Description
COUTURE TOP
Inspired by a retrospective exhibition in Paris dedicated to Madame Grès, often referred to as the "sculptor of fabric," this silk taffeta top explores the relationship between movement and structure.
While Madame Grès was renowned for creating fluid drapery from soft fabrics, this design approaches volume from a different perspective. Layers of sculptural draping are supported by an internal structure made entirely of silk taffeta, creating a silhouette that is both dynamic and architectural.
Beneath its seemingly effortless folds lies a carefully engineered construction that allows the garment to maintain its shape while moving naturally with the body. The result is a couture-inspired piece that balances softness with precision.
A concealed zipper at the center back and right side seam allows for ease of wear without interrupting the purity of the silhouette.
Designed to be styled with skirts, tailored trousers, or evening separates, this piece brings the language of couture into a contemporary wardrobe.
More than a top, it is a study of volume, structure, and the art of draping.
