COUTURE DRESS
Inspired by a dress encountered during a major retrospective exhibition in Paris dedicated to Madame Grès, often referred to as the "sculptor of fabric," this silk taffeta dress explores the relationship between drape, volume, and movement.
Crafted entirely from silk taffeta, the design takes advantage of the fabric's natural structure to create a silhouette that is both sculptural and fluid. Dramatic gathered panels run along each side of the body, forming cascading folds that shift and evolve with every movement.
Rather than reproducing the grandeur of traditional couture evening gowns, TKA reinterprets these techniques through a modern lens. The gathered side panels transform a simple silhouette into a sculptural composition, creating volume and visual rhythm from every angle.
The dress is intentionally cut above the knee, introducing a sense of youthfulness and modernity while preserving the sophistication and craftsmanship associated with couture construction.
A concealed center-back zipper allows for ease of wear while maintaining the purity of the silhouette.
Balancing architectural form with effortless movement, this piece reflects TKA's ongoing pursuit of translating couture techniques into a contemporary wardrobe.
More than a dress, it is a study of drape, proportion, and modern elegance.
